Hi everyone
We just crossed a major milestone in numerology highspots with 08-08-08 being celebrated in mighty style with China showcasing its sports and cultural capability. The whole world and its cousin went ga ga over the riches that this date would bring about.By the way numerologically, 8-8-8 adds up to 6 and not 8. So much for accuracy.
Not being enamoured by numbers, did a bit of snooping around and learned that in our own backyard in Chennai,8 has no value at all. In fact , those getting their vehicles registered have to be extra careful as the RTO officials palm off the unwanted numbers ending in 8 to the unsuspecting. In fact you have to pay a bribe ( Rs.500 onwards) to avoid being saddled with an 8 number.
I know of a number of people who have as much aversion to 8 as most have for 13.So much for the magic of numbers.
This being my first blog,I wish to start posting interesting articles, anecdotes on HR, the result of a very active HR career spanning 30 years where I have been associated both as an employee as well as a consultant with over 40 organisations.I can assure all that the anecdotes and cases that we talk about are based on facts and only names and dates may be with held to protect personal identitiy.
It is our hope to make this blog a value add for facts based discussion on HR issues.
